Wilma was born June 8, 1929 in Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of Hobart and Wilhemina “Minnie” (Thiede) Wellendorf. As a toddler, they moved onto the "home" farm in near Spragueville, Iowa. She attended school at the North Bend Country School.
Wilma farmed the family farm with her parents, carrying on the tradition when they passed, Minnie in 1950 and Hobart in 1966. Wilma lived a simple life, worked hard to be a successful farmer, and loved the land. Wilma loved cats. They were her confidants, friends, and protectors.
As her health declined, Jeff and Amanda Holdgrafer became her second family. Their children brought a smile to her face, and a joy in her day. She was blessed with their kindness and attention to her. Her last days made more comforted with their support. Jeff and Amanda wish to thank Jackson County Hospice and the Crestridge staff for their loving care provided to Wilma.
