Wilma Marie Mischnick, age 92, of Savanna, Illinois, died Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Savanna.
Wilma was born October 8, 1920 in Savanna, the daughter of Charles and Esther (Haas) Plattenberger. She is a Savanna High School graduate with the Class of 1938. On February 12, 1947 Wilma married LaVerne Mischnick. They lived in Minneapolis, MN all throughout their 45 years of marriage. LaVerne passed away October 7, 1992.
Wilma worked at BBSO Advertising Agency in Minneapolis. Before moving to Minneapolis, she worked at the Milwaukee Railroad Superintendent office and the Savanna Proving Grounds at the Army Depot. She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Savanna.
Wilma is survived by two nephews; three great nephews; three great-great nephews; and a brother, William (Shirley) Plattenberger of Itasca, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her husband and a nephew, Bruce Plattenberger.
