Wilma Jean Imel, age 87, of Chadwick, IL, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Allure Nursing Home, in Mt. Carroll, IL. A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 11am at Law Jones Funeral Home, in Mt. Carroll. Burial will follow at Chadwick Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Law Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll, from 5pm to 7pm, as well as one hour prior to Thursday’s service. Wilma was born October 12, 1933, in Lanark, IL, the daughter of William and Lolu (Patterson) Miller, Sr. She graduated from Lanark High School. On September 20, 1953, Wilma married Floyd Imel. The couple would go on to have four children. Wilma was a proud and devoted wife and mother who always made sure her family was being well-cared for.
As her and Floyd’s children grew and left the nest the dairy cows were sold. She joined Floyd in working for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association, from the late 1980’s through the early 2000’s. They would travel locally and sometimes regionally to perform milk testing at dairy farms. Floyd and Wilma were also long time members of York Community Church, in Thomson, IL, and enjoyed crotchet in her spare time. Though she’ll be remembered and missed for many things, her family will surely miss her apple pies. At family reunions, everyone knew you better grab a slice quickly!
Wilma will be dearly missed by her daughter, Judy (Daryle) Jones, of Lanark, IL, three sons, Duane (Barb) Imel, of Chadwick, IL, Barry (Ronda) Imel, of Milledgeville, IL, and Tom (Sandy) Imel, of Chadwick, IL; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Jones, Sara Jones, Eric Imel, Stacy Imel, Chelsey Fitzgerald, Courtney Alexander, Ryan Imel and Kyle Imel; and thirteen great grandchildren, Kaylen, Brayden, Johnathan, Carley, Tinlee, Wade, Preston, Carter, Breslyn, Morse, Huxley, Lexi, and Cole. Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, William and Lolu; husband, Floyd; two brothers, William(Bud) Miller, Jr. and Russell Miler; and two sisters, Betty Blanchard and Mary Kathryne Sullivan.
