William "Bill" Wernick

William “Bill” F. Wernick (Kohl) was a family man who loved spending time with his entire family, especially his three grandchildren. At the age of 51, Bill passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014 in Savanna, Illinois.
Bill was born on July 13, 1962, the son of Robert Kohl and Margery (Peters) Wernick in Clinton, Iowa. Marge and Robert later divorced and Marge married Norman Wernick. Norman adopted Bill. Bill attended Savanna High School. He was a highly skilled mechanic and never missed the opportunity to work on cars. Bill drove truck for many years, for Schafer Fisheries in Fulton, Illinois. On September 3, 1983, Bill married Tamara Buchholz they had a daughter and son together. Bill later met his lifelong partner of fifteen years Beverly Carter and they have a son together.
Bill enjoyed fishing, four wheeling, tinkering on engines. Most of all, Bill cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
Bill will be dearly missed by his daughter, Tashia (Justin) Jackson of Junction City, Kansas; two sons, Robert (Erin Russell) Wernick and Austin Wernick of Savanna; three grandchildren, Paige and Victor Jackson and Nicholas Wernick; his lifelong partner, Beverly Carter of Savanna, and her children, Alexis Walker, Meranda Carter, Stacey Carter, Derrick Carter and Wesley Carter; his brothers and sisters, Robert (Esther) Kohl, Laurie (Murray) Henricks, Jack (Brenda) Kohl, Lola (Paul) McArldle, John (Monica) Kohl, Betty (Michael) Sally Jr., Sandy Lee all of Clinton, Iowa, Norman (Amanda) Wernick all of Thomson, Illinois, Ethal (David) Sturtz of Mt. Carroll; and his grandma, Ethel Nave of Camanche, Iowa. Bill is preceded in death by his mother, father and adopted father.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, Illinois.
