William Lee Spencer

William Lee Spencer, age 67, of Thomson, Illinois, died Saturday, November 26, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, Iowa. Cremation rites will be accorded and a visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. with a prayer service held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at the Law- Jones Funeral Home in Thomson. A memorial fund has been established in Bill’s memory.
Bill was born May 7, 1944, in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Ned Romaine and Mary Louise (Rister) Spencer. He graduated from Thomson High School with the class of 1962. William married Julie Hinsch on November 30, 1963, in Savanna, Illinois.
Bill worked for Dupont and Bemis in Clinton for over thirty years. He had also worked Milwaukee Railroad for a short time. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the Mississippi River.
Bill is survived by his companion, Julie of Thomson; a daughter, Melanie (Doug) Bengston; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Dustin Bengston; and one sister, Nancy (Larry) Geerts of Clinton, Iowa. William is preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Susan Handel.
