William “Bill” Lee Schall, age 64, of Mt. Carroll , Illinois, died suddenly on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the Morrison Community Hospital. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Cremation Rites will be accorded following the service. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. A memorial fund has been established in William’s memory.
William was born on September 14, 1953, the son of George and Virginia (Walter) Schall in Savanna, Illinois. He attended Mt. Carroll High School and graduated with the Class of 1971. After graduation, William attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. He married the love of his life, Kathleen A. Sweitzer on April 21, 1973 in Lanark, Illinois.
William was a hardworking man and enjoyed life’s simple things. He worked at Atwood, later Dura Manufacturing in Mt. Carroll and for the Swiss Colony in Savanna. He also worked nights at Big Meadows Nursing Home, before recently retiring. William was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He loved the outdoors, especially gardening, hunting, fishing, and hiking. He also enjoyed photography, reading, and listening to rock ‘n’ roll. Most of all, William treasured spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
William will be dearly missed by his wife, Kathleen of Mt. Carroll; three children, Elizabeth (Tony) Timm of Mt. Carroll, Amanda (Steven) Honchell of Mt. Carroll, and Robert Schall and Bill Lombardi of Charlottesville, Virginia; six grandchildren, Roman, Jessica, Jennifer, and Nathan Timm, and Kathleen and Nicole Honchell, all of Mt. Carroll; his parents, George and Virginia Schall of Richmond, Kentucky; and two sisters, Karen (Michael) Reynolds of Berea, Kentucky, and Teri (Marko) Jefravi of Ehrenberg, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Zackary William Timm.
