William “Bill” Kenneth Mulholland, age 86, of Hanover, Illinois was reunited with his wife Adeline in eternity on Thursday, May 29, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Hanover. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hanover with Father Noel Jacob as Celebrant. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. Military rites will be accorded by the Hanover VFW Post #5300. Memorials may be given to Jo Daviess County Meals on Wheels, Hanover VFW Post #5300 and the Wounded Warrior Project in Bill’s memory.
Bill was born March 27, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois. He was loved and cared for by Leon and Florence Buss and his 13 siblings. Bill honorably served in the United States Navy on board the USS The Sullivans (DD-537), USS LST 855, USS LSM 380 and the USS Chara (AKA-58) during World War II. Upon his return Bill married the love of his life Adeline Krause on February 4, 1949 in Marshall, Illinois. Adeline passed away November 16, 2012. Bill worked for the Eaton Corporation in Hanover as a supervisor for twenty three years having opened the Hanover and the Savanna Plants. In retirement he worked for Chestnut Mountain Resort as jack of all trades for fifteen years.
Bill was a life-long Chicago Bears fan and a lover of classic cars. He was an expert Euchre player. Bill’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by his three sons, Ken (Linda) Mulholland of Hanover, Larry (Maggie) Mulholland of Eastland, Texas, J. (Betty) Mulholland of Crystal Lake, Illinois; and daughter, Barb (John) Schonhoff of Galena, Illinois; ten grandchildren, Marcie, Troy, Michael, Chad, Nathan, Beau, Cyle, Alicia, Mandy and Megan; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Bill is preceded in death by Leon and Florence Buss and his wife Adeline.
Bill was actively involved in the community as a former Cub Master, past president of the Lions Club, a member of Hanover VFW Post #5300 and the Eaton Management Club. He was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
