William “Bill” Hartman, age 70, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton, Iowa. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, with Military Rites conducted by Savanna VFW Post #2223.
Bill was born May 6, 1947, in Savanna, Illinois, the son of Willard and Cornelia “Cora” (Voss) Hartman. He attended Savanna High School and graduated with the Class of 1965. After high school, Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968, continuing his service in the Army Reserves until 1972. On October 9, 1990, Bill married Marisa Lolita Harris in Las Vegas, Nevada. They have celebrated 27 years of marriage.
Bill worked at the Savanna Army Depot in the ammunitions department for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and watching sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Bill will be dearly missed by his wife, Marisa Lolita Hartman; two children, Ryan Hartman of Savanna, and Stacy (John) Peterson of Savanna; three grandchildren, McKay, Levi, and McKenna; three brothers, Paul (Marilyn) Hartman of Savanna, Kenneth (Carolyn) Hartman of West Columbia, South Carolina, and Richard Hartman of Savanna; two sisters, Cora Mae Stricker of Savanna and Sharon Orth of Hanover, Illinois; and his mother-in-law, Erika Harris of Savanna. He is preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers, Willard Jr. and Rex Allen Hartman: and his father-in-law, Jim Harris.
