Wilemina E. "Minnie" Meyer

Wilemina “Minnie” E. Meyer, age 95 of Preston, Iowa, died on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Eagle Point Nursing and rehabilitation Center, Clinton. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Miller-Law-Jones-Funeral Home in Preston, Iowa. Burial will take place in Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Minnie's memory.
Minnie was born on August 7, 1917, the daughter of John and Louise (Milder) Schroeder in Charlotte, Iowa. Minnie married Raymond A. Meyer on December 22, 1936 in Bellevue, Iowa. Raymond died on September 22, 1988 in Clinton.
Minnie was a homemaker who cherished taking care of her family. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and watching birds. She also enjoyed crocheting doilies and afghans. Most of all, Minnie loved spending time with her family and friends.
Minnie will be dearly missed by her son, Robert (Janice) Meyer of Preston; one daughter, Shirley (Howard) Torkelson of Plainfield, Illinois; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; seven sisters, Laura Turner of Clinton, Vera Migawa of Clinton, Maleta Bott of Clinton, Alberta Mommsen of Clinton, Maxine Kuehl of Clinton, Clara Hall of Bullhead City, Arizona and Loretta Sullivan of Clinton; one brother, William Schroeder of Clinton; one brother in-law, Jerry Smith of Thomson, Illinois and three sisters in-law, Mary Schroeder of Austin, Minnesota, Audrey Schroeder of Camanche, Iowa and Grace Schroeder of Union, Illinois.
Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; one granddaughter, Lori Reader; four brothers, Henry, Johnny, Edward and Leroy Schroeder; one sister, Jeanette Smith; three brothers in-law, Ray Migawa,Clarence Kuehl, and John Mommsen, Jr., and one sister in-law, Maxine Schroeder.
