Wesley Earl Behn, age 76, of Preston, Iowa, passed away on November 2, 2007, at his home. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston. Reverend Gregory Geier will officiate. Burial will be in the Miles Cemetery, Miles, Iowa. Military rites will be accorded by the Preston American Legion Post# 602. A Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Preston. A memorial fund has been established in Wesley's memory.
Wes was born on March 30, 1931, the son of Fred and Lovina (Barten) Behn. He attended Miles High School and graduated with the class of 1949. Wes served his county in the United States Air Force for four years. He married Caroline Ruchotzke on September 9, 1956 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston.

Wes farmed in Preston for over fifty years, beginning in 1956. Wes was a longtime member of the Preston American Legion. He was previously the President of both the St. John's Lutheran Church Council and the Jackson County Pork Producers. Wes won the National Pork Producer's Award in 1971. Wes loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, hunting, and working on the farm. Most of all, Wes enjoyed going dancing with his lovely dancing partner, Caroline. He was always the first one on the dance floor and the last to leave.

Wes is survived by his wife, Caroline; three sons, Dale Behn of Preston, Darwin (Alice) Behn of Preston, Kenneth (Laurie) Behn of Preston; one daughter, Sharon (Jeff) Bormann of Goose Lake, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Kevin, Melody, Josh, Derek, Jamie, R.J., Jessica, and Jackie; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Alvin; one brother, Arnie (Doris) Behn of Sabula, Iowa; two sisters, Joretta Sandholdt of Sabula, Iowa and Doris (Ron) Evans of Pella, Iowa.

Wes was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, David.
