Wendy Marie Wilkinson Matuszak Jensen, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on June 22, 2025, at the age of 68, from natural causes in Fallon, Nevada. Born on February 17, 1957, in Freeport, Illinois, Wendy was a bright light in the lives of everyone she met, leaving a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished forever.

Wendy was the daughter of Gordon and Sandra Wilkinson, who nurtured her with unwavering support throughout her life. She grew up forming strong bonds with her siblings which continued into adulthood. Wendy was married to David Jensen in Mt. Carroll, Illinois on March 26, 2005 after 26 years of dating.

Wendy was preceded in death by her parents, Gordy and Sandy, her husband David Jensen, and her brother-in-law Larry Buchanan. She is survived by her devoted son, Jeremy Matuszak, and daughter-in-law, Lindsay Matuszak, along with her cherished grandchildren, London and Harrison, who brought her immeasurable joy.

She is also survived by her sisters Connie Grenoble and Kathy Galus (Jim), along with their families, including niece Brooke, nephews Bradley (Leah), and nephew Kris (Angela). Additionally, she leaves behind her brother James Wilkinson and sister-in-law Gina, along with nephews Samuel, Collin (Rebecca), and Quinn (Els), her Aunt Alice Riffe and Uncle Wayne Wills, of whom will miss her dearly. She was loved by numerous great nieces and nephews.

Wendy’s passion for education led her to earn an Associate's degree in accounting from Lassen Community College. She began her professional journey as a bagger at the Commissary in Herlong, California, and through her tenacity and determination, she worked her way up to become the Store Director at the Defense Commissary Agency in Fallon, Nevada, and Bridgeport, California. Her career was marked by her exceptional hard work and numerous awards and recognition by the US Military.

In her personal life, Wendy found joy in the simple pleasures. She adored reading and spending time with her book club. She also cherished traveling with her sisters and visiting with family in Illinois. Her greatest delight, however, came from spending time with her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.

Wendy Marie Wilkinson Matuszak Jensen will be remembered for her loving nature, her resilience, and her unwavering love for her family. Her warmth and compassion touched everyone she met, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Funeral services were held at Smith Family Funeral Home in Fallon, Nevada on Saturday June 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place on 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Schapville Zion Presbyterian Cemetery in Scales Mound, IL.
