Wayne E. Wurster, Sr.

Wayne E. Wurster Sr., age 71, of Savanna, Illinois passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2011, at the Law – Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial fund has been established in Wayne’s memory.
Wayne was born October 12, 1940 in Savanna, Illinois, the son of Elmer C. and Pauline F. (Lahre-Rice) Wurster. He attended Savanna area schools. On March 3, 1962 in Savanna, Wayne married Nancy Hamilton. Wayne worked as a Machine Operator for the Burlington Northern Rail Road for over thirty years, until his retirement in 2002.
In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed cutting wood, deer hunting, tinkering with motors, Nascar Racing. He had a passion for gardening and had one heck of a green thumb because he could grow anything. Wayne loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Wayne will be dearly missed by his wife, Nancy of Savanna; two sons, Jim Wurster and Wayne Wurster Jr. both of Savanna; four grand children, Cassandra Wurster, Jim Wurster II, Nathen Wurster, Chelsea Wurster; four great grand children, Aubrey, Wyatt, Alyana, Wayde; two brothers, Paul (Diane) Wurster of Savanna, Bill (Pat) Wurster of Thomson, Illinois; two sisters, Alice Clements of Minnesota, Rosina (Al) Clarkson of Savanna; and a step-sister, Becky Lakawalski of Savanna. Wayne was preceded in death by both his parents and a stepfather Paul N. Rice.
