Wayne Eldon Sword

Wayne Eldon Sword, age 59 of Mt. Carroll, Illinois died Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at his home, after an extended illness. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the Frank-Law Jones Funeral Home in Mount Carroll. Chaplain Don Swanson of FHN Memorial Hospital will officiate. After the service family and friends will gather at Land of Oz, Mt. Carroll, Illinois for a Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Wayne’s name. Wayne was born in Freeport, Illinois on October 19, 1947, the son of Eldon and Alverta (Wirtjes) Sword. He graduated from Shannon High School in 1966 and served in the U.S. Army for two years. Wayne married Carol Warta on July 17, 1999 at their home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. He was previously married to Carolyn (Johnson) Deininger and Mary Anne (Gustason) Janssen.
Wayne enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, farming, driving truck, hunting, fishing, traveling and being outdoors. Wayne treasured the time he spent with his wife Carol.
Wayne is survived by his wife Carol of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; two daughters Roslyn Sword of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Carri Murphy (fiance’ David Oslager) of Elgin, Illinois; three grandchildren Alex, Leah and Rachel; one sister Sharon (Larry) Butt; two brothers John (Julie) Sword, and Jason (Tracy) Sword; and numerous nieces and nephews. His constant companion Tuggers the cat will miss him.
Wayne was preceded in death by his son Adrian; his stepson David; his parents and grandparents.
