Wayne “Sam” Robinson enjoyed turning wrenches and could fix anything. Sam died at the age 72 on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center South, Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Green Island Congregational Church, Miles, Iowa. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service. Burial will take place at a later date in Reeseville Cemetery, rural Miles, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Sam’s memory.
Sam was born on March 10, 1942, the son of Dearborn “Dave” and Margaret (Krumviede) Robinson in Sabula, Iowa. He was raised and attended school in Miles, Iowa. Sam was a self-employed mechanic and worked in Jackson and Clinton counties. He could fix anything and if he didn't know how, he would simply take it apart and figure it out. Sam loved turning wrenches and enjoyed learning how things worked. Sam enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, camping and floating down the Maquoketa River. Most of all, Sam treasured spending time with his family and friends.
Sam will be dearly missed by four children, John (Eileen) Robinson of Clinton, Iowa, Fred (Melissa) Ryan of Clinton, Leah (Mark) Willers of Springfield, Missouri and Lori Davey of Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, Sandy (Tony) Generali, Nicholas Stanek, Haley (Kendall) Sawyer, Levi (DeLana) Trantham, Sherry Trantham, Rachel (Jesse) Naeve of Anna, Texas, Shawn (Micki) Ryan, Austin Ryan, Samantha (RJ Brashaw) Ryan, Bryar Robinson, Shampayne Robinson, Nicholas Wood and Krystina Isaacs of Arizona; six great grandchildren, Leeland Merrick, Piper Sawyer, Owen Brashaw, Sutton Naeve, Amelia Ryan and Mark Wayne Walker-Ryan; six siblings, Vickie (Carlye) Evers of Low Moor, Iowa, Patricia Boettcher of Elmore, Minnesota, Suzie Hammond of DeWitt, Iowa, Dick (Pat) Robinson of Gooselake, Iowa, Rance (Karen) Robinson of Clute, Texas and Lula Mae Thompson of Yucca, Arizona; and a special friend, Rita Robinson-Hedstrom of Preston.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Margaret; one son, Jody Merrick; and three brothers, Ted Mangler, Glen Robinson and Wilbert Robinson.
