Wayne J. Krohmer, age 81, of Elizabeth, Illinois, died on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, Iowa. According to his wishes Cremation Rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m.on Friday, May 6, 2011 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elizabeth with Reverend Harvey Nicholson officiating. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery, Woodbine, Illinois. In Lieu of Flowers Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Wayne was born on May 27, 1929, in Elizabeth, Illinois, the son of John and Marie (Ege) Krohmer. He graduated from Elizabeth High School with the Class of 1948. Wayne married Joyce E. Hopkins on February 20, 1949, in Elizabeth, Illinois.
Wayne farmed for thirty-one years in the Elizabeth area and worked for Jo-Daviess Service Company for fourteen years. Wayne was an active member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elizabeth. He served on the Elizabeth School Board for twenty-one years, the Jo-Carroll Electric Board for six years, he served on the Farm and Home Administration Board, was a Trustee for the Elizabeth Fire District, and he was a member of the Elizabeth Lions Club. Wayne volunteered each year with the Elizabeth Christmas Food Basket Project. He enjoyed traveling, doing yard work and gardening.

Wayne will be dearly missed by his wife, Joyce of Elizabeth; a son; Randolph W. (Tricia) Krohmer of Evergreen Park, Illinois; a daughter, Kristin E. Offenheiser of Lexington, Kentucky; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Ted (Velda) Krohmer of Elizabeth; and two sisters, Leona (Wayne) Trost of Elizabeth and Connie (Gus) Mueller of Monroe, Wisconsin. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Jayne Henrey.
