Wayne N. Kloft, age 75 of rural Miles, Iowa died of natural causes on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at his home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 26, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Preston, Iowa with Father Don Hertges as Celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Preston. A visitation will be held from 2:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston.
Wayne was born on June 17, 1936, the son of Joe and Irene (Heuertz) Kloft in Bellevue, Iowa. He was educated in a rural school and later proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1955-1957. After Wayne was discharged from the Army he came home and began farming. Wayne married Shirley Holdgrafer on September 8, 1962 in Bryant, Iowa.
Wayne farmed his entire life as well as working for the Department of Transportation maintaining roads. He also drove a school bus and was a parts runner for Kunau Implement. Wayne was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Preston and a lifetime member of Great River Threshers, Miles. Wayne enjoyed traveling, going to Casino’s and spending time socializing with his friends over a cup of coffee. Most of all, Wayne loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s activities.
Wayne will be dearly missed by his wife, Shirley; three children, Allen (Theresa) Kloft of Goose Lake, Iowa; Peggy (Donald) Eickert of Bryant, Iowa and Janet (Gene) Ruchotzke of Sabula, Iowa; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Mina Theisen of Bellevue, Elaine Weis of Bellevue and Nancy (John) Rubel of Maquoketa, Iowa; and one sister in-law, Marian Kloft of Maquoketa; and several brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wayne was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Kloft; his parents and his brother, Dorman Kloft.
