Walter "Bud" Wilson Hamilton, age 70, of Savanna, Illinois, died Saturday, February 3, 2007, at the Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, Illinois. Reverend Michael Jones of the York Baptist Church, Thomson, Illinois, will officiate. A Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Garden in Freeport, Illinois. A Memorial fund has been established in Bud's memory.
Bud was born on August 10, 1936, in Mt. Carroll, Illinois, the son of Bromley and Mae (Henson) Hamilton. He graduated from Mt. Carroll High School in 1956, after enlisting with the United States Navy in 1955. He married Karen Kay Trude on May 29, 1971, in Savanna, Illinois.
Bud was a Machinist with Dupont in Clinton, Iowa, for thirty-two years. He served in the United States Navy from 1955-1959. Bud enjoyed life to the fullest; he always had a smile and a feisty attitude even though he struggled with illness for over thirty years. He had an amazing will to live, giving faith to all those who knew him. Bud enjoyed spending time with his family and looking after his grandchildren. He loved to attend all of their school activities. Bud enjoyed traveling and visiting with Country Music Stars. Bud loved to read and watch wrestling. He always looked forward to his daily coffee club meetings and going to local restaurants to visit with friends.
Bud is survived by his wife, Karen; one son, Dwayne (Diane) Hamilton of Savanna; three daughters, Marsha Wilson of Strawberry Point, Iowa, Renee' (Todd) Robbe of Savanna, and Kim (Brent) Keil of Camanche, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Stephni Wilson, Jesse Wilson, Justin Hamilton, Cora Wilson, Kelsey Ganos, Brooke Keil, and Sydney Hamilton; one sister, Eileen (Robert) McIntyre of Savanna.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Paul and Maynard; two sisters, Dolores Brandt and Bonnie Yenney; and one nephew, Victor Brandt.
