Wallace Wilbur Bullis, age 95, of Savanna, Illinois passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, Iowa. Cremation rites will be accorded and private family services will be held. Family and friends are invited to share in Wallace’s life at

Wallace was born on July 3, 1922 in Kimball, South Dakota, to Lincoln and Flossie Bullis. As a young boy he moved with his family to Mitchell, South Dakota. He attended Mitchell schools and enlisted in the South Dakota National Guard in 1940. Wallace proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II until 1945, when he was honorably discharged. He married Ruth Jones on April 4, 1946, in Mitchell, South Dakota. Ruth passed away in April of 2002. Wallace worked for the Milwaukee Railroad as a Carman and airbrake specialist until his retirement in 1981. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, bird watching, hunting, fishing and helping at the Palisades State Park.
Wallace will be dearly missed by one son, Michael (Tina) Bullis of Clinton, IA; three grandchildren, Christopher, Rachel and Michael (Sydney) Bullis. He is preceded in death by his wife Ruth, five sisters, one brother, his parents, and one son, Stanley, who died while serving in the Army in the Vietnam War.
