Virginia Mae (Pepperman) Dubey, age 87, of Thomson, Illinois died on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson, Illinois with Pastor Steve Newell officiating. A Memorial gathering will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Virginia's memory.
Virginia was born on March 7, 1927, the daughter of Carl and Dorothy (Womack) Pepperman, in Freeport, Illinois. Virginia met her future husband, Felix Dubey, while he was stationed in Rockford, Illinois. Virginia married Felix on March 8, 1947, in Freeport. Felix died on July 19, 2005 at his home in Thomson.
After they were married, Virginia and Felix moved to New York, where Felix worked as a lumberjack and Virginia helped cook at the lumberjack camp. After several years, they moved back to Freeport, where Virginia began working for Micro Switch. Shortly after retirement, Virginia and Felix purchased a home in Thomson.
Virginia loved living in Riverview where she could watch the river and feed her birds. She also enjoyed garage sales, reading, and volunteering at Ingersoll Wetlands Learning Center. Virginia loved children and especially enjoyed volunteering as Mrs. Claus at the Thomson library every year.
Virginia will be dearly missed by one son, Gary (Diane) Dubey of Freeport, Illinois; one daughter, Cheryl (Lynn) Wichman of Forreston, Illinois; one granddaughter, Tammy (Rick) Dornink of Winnebago, Illinois; four great-grandchildren, Tawney Moring of Pecatonica, Illinois, Garrett Moring of Forreston, Illinois, Brock Dornink of Winnebago, Illinois, and Brynn Dornink of Winnebago, Illinois; one great-great-granddaughter, Molly Moring of Forreston, Illinois; and one sister, Karen (Tom) Brillhart of Freeport, Illinois.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Felix, and one sister, Barbara Phillips.
