Violet E. Steinberger, age 87, of Elizabeth, Illinois, died Monday, February 18, 2008, at the Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 23rd, at the Law – Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth. A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 am Saturday prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hosptial. Violet E. Hacker was born June 10, 1920, in Guilford, Illinois, the daughter of Frederick and Effie (Boldt) Hacker. She attended school in Schapville, Illinois. Violet was married to Joe Steinberger on March 18, 1936, in Elizabeth. Violet and Joe owned the International Harvester Implement and Violet later worked at the Corral and Mac’s Restaurant in Elizabeth. She enjoyed sewing and flower gardening, and she loved to go out to eat and shopping with her friends. Violet will be dearly missed by her brother Lester (Fely) Hacker of Pittsburgh, Texas; her sister Lucille Schreck of Bullhead City, Arizona; one grandson, Kevin Steinberger of California; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and many friends.Violet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph; one son, Joseph Lee Steinberger; one brother, Eldon Hacker; one brother – in – law, Clayton Schreck; and one sister – in – law, Marian Hacker.
