Viola A. “Dolly” Yenney, age 93, formerly of Savanna and Mt. Carroll, Illinois, passed away Friday, January 6, 2006 at Morgan Memorial Home in Stockton, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois with Reverend Robert Schubert officiating. Burial will take place in Center Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Friends may call from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2006 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Viola was born September 12, 1912 in Minerva, Iowa, the daughter of David K. and Pina (Davis) Ewalt. She married George Yenney January 25, 1928 at the Carroll County Court House in Mt. Carroll, Illinois.
Viola worked for many years at the Savanna Army Depot, Savanna, Illinois. She later worked at Burgess Battery Factory in Freeport, Illinois for a number of years. Viola finished out her working career at the Atwoods Manufacturing in Mt. Carroll, Illinois retiring in 1979.
Viola’s hobbies and interests included embroidery, her love of animals, camping, cooking and going to family reunions. She also enjoyed playing cards and making quilts and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Viola will be deeply missed by her three daughters, Betty E. Miller of Clinton, Iowa, Viola (Don) Zink of Mt, Carroll, Illinois and Georgia (Allen) Tripp of Sterling, Illinois; her son, Mernice “Sonny” (Marilyn) Yenney of Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Viola is also survived by many grand and great grand children along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Viola is preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, two sons, Franklin and Keith Yenney, daughter in law Gaye LaVonne “Bonnie” Yenney, son in law Milton Miller, four brothers, Clarence, Randall, Marion, and Roy Ewalt; two sisters, Rebecca Myers and Mae Ewalt; along with twenty half brothers and sisters and one grand daughter Gaye LaVonne (Edwards) Filflet.
