Vincent "Vince" Vesely

Vincent "Vince" Vesely, age 78, of Hanover, Illinois passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 at home in the loving care of his family. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the Funeral Home from 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Log Church Cemetery, Hanover. Vince was born January 14, 1935 in Savanna, Illinois, the son of Gerald and Charlotte (Hayes) Vesely. He is a Savanna High School graduate with the Class of 1953. After High school, Vince worked for Corey's Appliance Store, delivering propane in 1954, Savanna Fabricators in 1955, and then drafted into the US Army from 1957 to 1959. While in the Army, Vince served with the 78th Field Artillery in Fort Hood and in Germany as a Staff Sergeant. On June 27, 1959, Vince married Judy Patterson at the Hanover United Presbyterian Church.
Vince began working as the Supervisor of Shipping and Receiving for Eaton Corporation, Hanover from 1965 until his retirement 1996. Vince enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially morel hunting, turkey hunting, fishing, camping and model railroading. He was a member of the Hanover United Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder, Session member and Board of Trustees. He also served his community as the Elizabeth Township Supervisor for 22 years; was on the Elizabeth Township Cemetery Board; the Elizabeth Ambulance Board; and the Elizabeth-Woodbine Multi-Assessor Board.
Vince is survived by his wife, Judy Vesely of Hanover; two sons, Perry (LeeAnn) Vesely of Hanover and Todd Vesely of Davenport, Iowa; his daughter, Jennifer (Joe) Dewey of Amboy, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Holly (Justin Woodhurst) Haring, Robert (Holly) Shaw, Jacquelynn Renee Vesely, Jared Ray Vesely, Lauren Vesely, Austin Veselyand Alli Dewey; four great grandchildren, Ryleigh, Bryar, Collin and Lceid; a brother, Roger Vesley of Mt. Morris, Illinois; three brother in-laws, Robert (Betty) Patterson of Hanover, Richard (Deborah) Patterson of Hanover and Jack (Thelma) Collins of Branson, MO; and a sister in-law, Shirley (Dale) Dodson of Newell, SD. Vince is preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Sharon Lazinski Collins.
