Victoria Sue Bumphrey age 57, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away October 20, 2016 at FHN in Freeport, Illinois after a 17 year battle with heart disease and kidney failure. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. A visitation will be held at 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on October 25, 2016 at Law-Jones Funeral Home prior to the service. A memorial fund has been established in Victoria’s memory.
Victoria was born November 14, 1958 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her parents were Walter “Red” and Kathleen (Avery) Klein. She attended Savanna High School with the Class of 1975. Victoria married Ronald Bumphrey on April 27, 1984 in Mt. Carroll, Illinois.
Victoria worked as a cook at Big Meadows Nursing home for many years. She enjoyed camping and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Over the years, she opened her home to many children who she helped raise. To her family she was known as the rock and glue that held the group together. Victoria was a wonderful cook and always spoke her mind and looked at the positive things in life. In her last years she enjoyed a daily scooter ride up to have coffee with friends.
Victoria will be dearly missed by her husband of 32 years, Ronald; four children, India (Donnie) Sipe of Savanna, Thomas (Maggie Oderwald) Spittler of Savanna, Ashley (Ashleigh Maike) Leonard of Savanna, and Renee Bumphrey of Tallahassee, Florida; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betsy (Marty) Kinder of Savanna; one brother, Robert (Stacie) Klein of Savanna. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Kathleen and a sister, Robin Carroll.
