Victor A. Zeke Benson

Victor A. “Zeke” Benson, age 64, of Thomson, Illinois, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson, Illinois. Pastor Paul Judd of the Thomson United Methodist Church, Thomson, Illinois, will officiate. Burial will be in Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. Friends may call from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson. Memorials can be made to the Savanna Moose Lodge # 1095, Savanna, Illinois in memory of Victor Benson.
Victor was born July 19, 1941 in Aurora, Illinois, the son of Leonard Axel & Edith Ida Benson. He was a graduate of the Batavia High School, Batavia, Illinois, class of 1959. Upon graduation from High School, Victor enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served from 1959 until 1962. Victor married Patricia “Pat” (Ellis) February 9, 1963 in Batavia, Illinois. Victor had worked as a dairy farmer his early life in Wasco, Illinois and later worked 33 years as an electrical lineman for the city of Batavia, Illinois until his retirement in 1996. Victor very much loved and enjoyed fishing, wood working, and spending time with his grand children and other family members. Victor was an active member of the Savanna Moose Lodge # 1095 and the Savanna V.F.W. Post # 2223, and was a Master Mason of the Batavia Masonic Lodge, Batavia, Illinois.
Victor is survived by his wife, Pat of Thomson, Illinois; son, Brian (Lauri) Benson of Batavia, Illinois; daughter, Kimberly (Butch) Mobley of Thomson, Illinois; two grandsons, Nicholas & Zachary Benson of Batavia, Illinois, and one granddaughter, Hallie Mobley of Thomson, Illinois; two brothers, James (Sue) Benson of Batavia, Illinois, and Robert (Shirley) Benson of Remsen, Iowa.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents.
