Verneice V. (Schultz) Turner, age 81, of Lanark, died on Friday, January 17, 2025 in Sterling.
Verneice was born on December 26, 1943 in rural Shannon, daughter of Floyd and Hazel (Dean) Schultz. She married Gerald (Jerry) Turner on May 9, 1965. She started her education in a one-room school house and graduated from Shannon High School.
After graduation, Verneice worked for a bank in Freeport before attending beauty school. She owned MI-LADY’S-BEAUTYLAND in Mt. Carroll before later moving her business to their home.
As a young girl, Verneice was active in choir and band. She was a member of the Cherry Grove Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed living in the country, raised on the Schultz family farm, later raising her family with Jerry on the Turner family farm. She loved gardening, traveling, shopping, and eating, but her life was unselfishly devoted to caring for and putting her family first. She was always an active mom in her two daughters' lives, seamlessly transitioning into being the best “Nanny” for her granddaughters, Taylor and Tyra. After almost 56 years of marriage and inseparable lives, including daily drives, an enormous void has been felt since her husband passed away almost two years ago.
She will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Tammy Haag of Milledgeville, and Tanya Turner of Sterling, two granddaughters, Taylor Haag (fiancé John Strauser) of Ripon, WI and Tyra Haag of Milledgeville, one 20-year-old grandkitty, Princess, and one sister, Verla (Schultz) Lohman of Geneseo.
Verneice was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister Viola Schultz, two brothers, Virgil and Vernon Schultz, brother-in-law Victor (Gus) Lohman, and two sister-in-laws Beth (Bast) Schultz and Shirley (Turner) Woodin.
A private family service will be held.
