Vaughn E. Mcginnis

Vaughn E. McGinnis, age 61, of Thomson, Illinois, died Thursday, July 6, 2006 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, Illinois. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 11 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson with Pastor Michael Jones officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 12 noon – 1:00 p.m Tuesday, July 11, one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established in Vaughn’s name. Vaughn was born March 25, 1945 in Savanna, the son of Vaughn and Mary (Nelson) McGinnis. He attended the Thomson School in Thomson.
Vaughn worked in construction for many years. He was a member of the local Construction Workers Union. He enjoyed fishing and horseback riding in his younger years. Vaughn had a keen sense of humor and enjoyed playing a good prank. Most of all he enjoyed the time he spent at family gatherings and picnics.
Vaughn will be dearly missed by three nephews, Dannie (Sandra) Howard of Clinton, Iowa, Kenneth (Melissa) Howard of Clinton, Iowa and Kevin (Rebecca) Howard of Savanna, Illinois; three nieces, Melodie Bailey of Thomson, Illinois, Kimberlie (James) McLuckie of Savanna, Illinois and Laurie (Samuel) Brewer of Miles, Iowa; 15 grand nieces and grand nephews; and 4 great-grand nieces and great-grand nephews. Vaughn is preceded in death by both of his parents, a brother, Joseph McGinnis and a sister, DeLene Palmer.
