Troy A. Yenney

Troy A. Yenney, age 51, of Savanna, IL, passed away suddenly at Clinton Mercy Hospital on Monday, November 29, 2021. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 6pm at Law Jones Funeral Home, in Savanna, IL. Visitation will take place from 4pm to 6pm, before the service.

Troy was born December 26, 1969 in Portsmouth, VA, the son of Steven and Linda (Hoertz) Yenney. Troy grew up in Savanna and graduated from Savanna High School with the class of 1988.

Ever active in his community, Troy would go on to find his calling in public service, specifically in fire and rescue services. He trained as an EMT and held various service roles including 911 operator, severe weather radio operator and weather spotter, race track safety and recovery, and was a member of fire and rescue squads both in Sangamon county and in Savanna, respectively. Never content with his level of training and expertise, Troy continue to add to his resume, becoming a RN serving in emergency rooms and trauma units.

In his free time, Troy enjoyed hunting and fishing, and dearly loved his many animals he owned throughout his life; most recently, his cat. He maintained a keen interest in mechanics, and held an affinity for art and music, including his many drawings.

Troy will be dearly missed by his parents, Steve and Linda Yenney, of Savanna, IL; brothers, Travis (Cami) Yenney, of Mt. Carroll, IL and Trent (Nicole) Yenney, of Savanna, IL; grandmother, Bettie Hoertz Hottenstein, of Savanna, IL; nephews, Preston (Mary Rannow) Yenney, of Savanna, IL, Andrew Yenney, of Hampton, IL, and Brandon Hutchison, of Mt. Carroll, IL; and niece, Hailey Yenney, of Savanna, IL. Troy is preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Gayle Yenney and George Hoertz, and aunt, Dixie Green.
