Todd LaVern Moreland, age 62, of Savanna, IL, passed away November 16, 2024 at Javon Bea Hospital, in Rockford, IL. A celebration of Todd’s life will be held, Monday, November 25, at Law Jones Funeral Home, in Savanna, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Todd was born July 17, 1962, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Charles and Katherine (Bainbridge) Moreland. He graduated from Moline High School with the class of 1982, and shortly thereafter, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
After his time in the service, Todd returned to Illinois where he became a truck driver, and soon, a father. As his children grew, Todd decided it was time to give up the road and find work locally, so he could share in his children’s lives as much as possible. He worked a number of factory jobs, most recently with Plastics Unlimited.
In 2007, Todd married Heidi Edwards. Heidi had two children to add to Todd’s eight, and it wasn’t long before a 11th was born out of their union. Todd loved his blended family dearly; he and Heidi treated each of the kids as they were their own blood. As the children grew, Todd was soon blessed with grandchildren. Those “grandbabies”, as he lovingly called them, would become the light of his life.
An outdoorsman through and through, Todd could often be found fishing his favorite spots, in Savanna and near Lock and Dam 13. He was a “project guy”, always fixing something or building a shed or dog gate, and a chilly fall night was never complete without a nice bonfire, with wood he chopped himself, of course!
Todd leaves behind a legacy of family, and love for many. He is survived by his wife, Heidi; parents, Charles and Katherine; children, Bryan (Faith) Moreland, Leanna (Brett) Moreland, Andrew Kackley, Amanda (Erik) Moreland, Alex Edwards, Michael Moreland, Cheyanne (Chris) Moreland, Allyson Moreland, Aubryanna Edwards, and Makenzie Moreland; 11+“grandbabies”; brothers, Grayson Scott (Dawn) Hawk and Randy Moreland; sister, Paula (Miles) Blassingham; and many more who he called his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by many more. He is preceded in death by his son, Brandon Carr.
