Tobias “Toby” Lowell Johnson, age 24, of Thomson, Illinois, died as the result of a motorcycle accident on Saturday, July 1, 2017, in rural Thomson. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson. Burial will take place in Lower York Cemetery, Thomson. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Toby’s memory.
Toby was born February 3, 1993, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Mark and Lisa (Starr) Johnson. He attended Thomson Schools. He was employed by Ryan Eissens Construction, Thomson for several years. Toby enjoyed chasing Pokémon on Pokémon Go and playing XBOX One, especially first person shooters. Toby loved the outdoors and riding his motorcycle with his best friends, Mark Much, Steve Willis, Richard Houzenga, and Corey Robbins. He also enjoyed bonfires and spending time with his family and close friends.
Toby will be dearly missed by his mother, Lisa Johnson of Thomson; father, Mark Johnson of Maricopa, Arizona; one sister, Bailey Johnson of Clinton, Iowa; a half-brother, Corey Wagens; a half-sister, Heaven Grace Johnson; maternal grandfather, Lowell Starr of Thomson; paternal grandfather, Raymond (Norma) Johnson Sr. of Thomson; two uncles, Daniel Starr of Thomson and Danny Rathje of Sabula, Iowa; one aunt, Laura (Al Birkett) Rathje of Low Moor, Iowa; one cousin, Sabrina Rathje of Sabula, Iowa; and girlfriend, Lindsey Wilke of Thomson. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Donna Starr, and paternal grandmother, Pamela Weidrer.
