Timothy A. Lower

Timothy “Trapper” Lower, age 64, Mt. Carroll, IL, passed away Wednesday, February 13th, at UW Madison Hospital and Clinics.

Tim was born November 13, 1956, son of Donald and Harriette (Davis) Lower. He grew up in Lanark, and graduated from Lanark High School with the class of 1973. Tim grew up hunting, trapping, and exploring the woods and fields of Northwest Illinois. He learned trapping from his mother, and has passed down those skills and knowledge to his son. Tim’s son was his pride and joy. They loved to bond over hunting, especially on their trips to North Dakota where they would practice their sharpshooting, prairie dogging.

Tim loved the Mississippi River. In his younger days he was a talented water skier. He spent many summers with friends and family on his boat. Tim worked on tugboats for part of his life. He became friendly with the barge captains and on at least one occasion took the helm of a barge as the captain boated into town to pick up provisions.

Tim was the man to call if you had a nuisance animal on your hands. From squirrels to racoons, Tim was the man for you. Along with helping many people with wild critters, Tim worked on many local homes pouring concrete. He was always kind and made friends fast, traits he has passed down to his family and loved ones.

Tim will be missed by his son, Cash Lower, and many close friends.
