Thomas "Tom" R. Dent

Thomas “Tom” R. Dent, 47, died Saturday, June 23, 2007, at his home in Sabula, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Sabula, Iowa, with Reverend Robert Krueger of Calvary Lutheran Church, Sabula, Iowa officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula, Iowa. Friends may call from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Sabula, Iowa. Memorials may be given in Tom’s name in lieu of flowers.
Tom was born on May 23, 1960, the son of Charles and Lillian (Dawson) Dent in Iowa City, Iowa. He was also the foster son of Mary Stoddard of Sabula, Iowa. He graduated from Maquoketa High School with the class of 1980.

Tom worked for many people in the Sabula area doing odd jobs and lawn maintenance. He was an active and dedicated member of Sabula Volunteer Fire Department for eighteen and one half years.

Tom is survived by two brothers, Paul (Deborah) Dent of Bellevue, Iowa and Al Dent of Savanna, Illinois; two sisters, Sarah (Gerald) Heath of Clinton, Iowa and Irene (Ted) Pope of Poteau, Oklahoma; three nephews Jered Dent of Bellevue, Iowa, and Gerald Heath, Jr. and Aaron Heath of Clinton, Iowa; one niece Erica (Andrew) Browns of Dubuque, Iowa. Tom is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gene Dent.
