Lanark

Thomas D. Difazzio, age 70, of Lanark, Illinois, passed away at home on May 23, 2026.

Tom was born on August 8, 1955, in Geneva, Illinois, the son of Samuel and Loraine (Schrader) Difazzio. He grew up in West Chicago and spent many years working as a water and sewer operations specialist for the cities of Waterman, Chadwick, and Lanark.

Tom was a quiet man who appreciated time to himself, but he also had a deep love for music and the outdoors. He was musically talented and could play the piano, guitar, harmonica, and drums, and he was also a gifted singer. In his early adult years, Tom was a member of the band Axel Maguige, where he served as lead singer and played harmonica and keyboard. The band performed at many events and venues throughout the Chicagoland area.

Tom also enjoyed spending time with his sons and coached their Little League teams when they were young. He was an avid fisherman, and his favorite place to be was out on the Mississippi River, fishing whenever he had the chance.

Tom is survived by his sons, Jacob Difazzio and his wife Heather of Kelso, Washington, and Justin Difazzio and his spouse Rob of DeKalb, Illinois; two grandsons, Andrew and Owen Difazzio; and his brothers, Jerry Difazzio and Jim Difazzio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Loraine Difazzio.
