Theodore was born as Teeuwes Hofman, on April 5, 1947, to Jacob and Patricia Hofman in Eenrum, Netherlands; a small village in the Dutch province of Groningen. When the family emigrated to the US in 1956, he began going by Theodore, or Ted.
Ted graduated from West Chicago High School in 1966. Even during school, his employment has always involved working with metal and fabrication. He worked with screw machines and large hydraulic cylinders, and from 1985 to 2014 he worked at Metform, in production and sales.
In 1969 Ted married Marilyn Pratt in Wheaton, IL. Later they welcomed children Eva, Jenna and Brendan.
After moving from the Chicago area, Ted loved living in Savanna, being especially fond of outdoor activities. He specifically enjoyed working in his yard and garden.
Ted was a very active Christian, as one of Jehovah's Witnesses from his childhood on.
Ted is survived by his wife Marilyn; daughters, Eva (Charles) Simpson and Jenna (Ben) Stebbins; son, Brendan Hofman; grandchildren, Tonay, Camren, Desmond, Charlie, Leighton, Quintus, Hallie and Sawyer; sister Karen Goodlick; and his dog, Tiny Girl, who never left his side.
Ted is preceded in death by parents; sister, Betsy Dukes; and daughter-in-law, Jennifer (Fields) Hofman.
