Thelma D. Bach, age 88 of Belvidere, Illinois formerly of Savanna, Illinois, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at O.S.F. St Anthony Medical Center Rockford, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Burial will take place in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Savanna. A visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for an Indian reservation out west or St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Thelma’s memory.
Thelma was born on February 12, 1923, the daughter of Arthur and Mamie (Linton) Reed in Polo, Illinois. Thelma married Adolph John “Jake” Bach on June 18, 1938 in Clinton, Iowa. Jake died on October 17, 1995 in Savanna, Illinois.
Thelma worked in the manufacturing industry for over twenty-five years for various factories in the area. She was a former member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and loved cats. Most of all, Thelma treasured spending time with her family. They were her pride and joy.
Thelma will be dearly missed by one son, Richard (Sherry) Bach of Fulton, Illinois; one daughter, Sharon (Larry) Frederick of Belvidere, Illinois; one daughter in-law, Brenda Bach of Camanche, Iowa; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Max Reed, Sr. of Machesney Park, Illinois.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Jake; one son, Donald Bach; one granddaughter, Denise Stone; one brother, Kenneth Reed; and three sisters, Pearl Brockill, Dorothy Weaver and Tessie Fanning.
