Terry Miller, age 70, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away Sunday, October 6th, 2019 at his home. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 10th at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, with Full Military Rites. A Visitation will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service, at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Spring Lake Cemetery, Savanna.
Terry was born June 17, 1949, in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Paul and Shirley (Alexander) Miller. He attended Forreston High School and immediately joined the Army. He served three tours in Vietnam with the Green Berets as a communication specialist. Terry received a purple heart and was honorably discharged in 1970. Terry had three marriages; the first to Sally Kielman in 1970, the second to Patricia Vergin in 1980, and the third to Dianne Huston in 2015.
Terry was an employee of the Frontier Telephone Company, where he worked as a fiber optics splicer. He was a post commander of the Savanna VFW Post #2223. In his spare time, Terry liked to fish and hunt. He also took great pride in his lawn. During the summer, Terry would have huge cookouts with his friends and family. Terry loved to spend time with his loved ones, and especially enjoyed the company of his many grandchildren.
Terry is survived by his wife Dianne; one son, Scott (Michelle) Miller of Savanna, Illinois; two daughters, Sandra Steiner (fiancé Robert Mceneany) of Savanna, Illinois and Tara Miller (fiancé Jonathan Dadd) of Savanna, Illinois; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; three brothers, Paul (Jeanette) Miller of Rockfalls, Illinois, James (Stella) Miller of Forreston, Illinois, and Robert (Robin) Miller of Polo, Illinois. Terry is preceded in death by his parents.
