Terry L. Cram

May 25, 1949 — December 22, 2024

Terry L. Cram, 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at his home near Thomson, IL. A celebration of Terry’s life will be held at a later date. Born in May 1949, Terry was the eldest of five children born to Richard and Delores (Brown) Cram. Raised in Clinton, IA, Terry attended Clinton schools and developed a lifelong love for the Mississippi River, spending his youth fishing and exploring its waters.

From childhood, Terry demonstrated his passion for fishing, often catching minnows and giving them to his Mother to cook, though he later learned she substituted fish sticks for his catch. This love for fishing would define much of his life, bringing joy and cherished memories to his family and friends.

Terry built a career with DuPont, where he worked for 35 years before retiring. His career took him to Parkersburg, WV, where he met his soulmate, Debbie Stoddard. They married on May 25, 1989, and shared 35 wonderful years together. In 2008, Terry and Debbie moved to Riverview near Thomson, where they enjoyed a serene life by the water.

A natural fisherman, Terry’s skills were unparalleled, and he was always eager to share his expertise. Whether advising friends on techniques or creating precious moments on the river with his children and grandchildren, his love for the sport was contagious. Mornings spent in Sabula with friends and family filled his life with camaraderie and laughter.

At the heart of Terry’s world was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Debbie, his children Wendy, Lisa, and Terry Jr., of Clinton, IA, and his stepchildren Shane (Arlene) Malone of Fulton, IL, and Dana (Mark) Byrd of Belpre, OH. His grandchildren, Austin, Princess, Justine, Zeriah, Chance, Alec, Braxton, and Braylin, and his great-granddaughter, Dahlia, will treasure his memory. He is also survived by his siblings, Debbie Cram of Oshkosh, WI, and Bob Cram of Pasadena, CA. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Delores, and his brothers, Dave and Jim.

Terry’s family and friends will deeply miss him, but his memory will live on through the countless lives that he has touched.
