Tamela Ruth Bales, age 48, of Thomson, Illinois, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2008, at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois. Cremation Rites have been accorded. A memorial fund has been established in Tamela’s memory.
Tamela was born April 18, 1960, in Sandwich, Illinois the daughter of Charles H. and Martha F. (Legerwood) Bales. Tamela was a member of the Emanuel Baptist Church in Sandwich where she accepted Christ at the early age of eight years old. She graduated from Sandwich High School.
Tamela was a lover of all animals, and devoted most of her life to rescuing unwanted or hurt animals, including Sugar the three legged dog and Cocoa her wild cat; among many other strays as well. She had many special friends dead and alive from the East Coast to the West Coast.
Tamela is survived by her mother, Martha Betsinger of Thomson; five children, Marari Boardman, Alonzo (Ashley) Boardman, Layla Keefe, Christian Keefe, Gari Keefe; three grandsons, Derik, AJ Boardman and Lucius D. Keenan; sister, Pamela (Jerimiah) Speer; Niece, Deveri (Kori) Brown and their children Sevrin, Trinity, Jessika, and Kaylee Brown.
Preceded in death by her father, Charles; brothers, Jimmy Bales, and Chad Woods; her precious niece Angela Bales; step-father Lester Betsinger.
