Susan Jean Meador, 69, passed away at her home in Chadwick, Illinois on April 24, 2024.
Sue was born in Sterling, Illinois on May 8, 1954 to Jim and LaRue (Geary) Plog. She grew up in Milledgeville, IL and graduated from Milledgeville High School. She continued her education at Sauk Valley College in Dixon, Illinois, graduating with an associate in science degree in data processing. After graduation, she worked at Elkay, Inc. in Lanark, IL.
She was a devoted wife and mother, and always present for her family. She excelled at canning and preserving, sewing, gardening, untangling fishing poles, and taking care of farm kittens. She loved quilts and antiques and traveling to find them. She made the best blueberry muffins and passed on her cooking skills to her grateful children and grandchildren.
She worked part-time in the cafeteria for the Chadwick-Milledgeville School District for over 30 years, cooking and serving meals to elementary and high school students. She retired in 2020.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ron Meador; her daughter Rachel (Noah) Chartoff; her son Travis Meador; her grandchildren Toby and Lance; her sister Polly Nobis; and her brother Tom (Perri) Plog. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and her sweet German shorthair dog, Cocoa.
In accordance with Sue’s wishes, a private service will be held. For those who wish to honor her memory, her family asks that you live joyfully, care for those you love with loyalty and strength, and spread kindness everywhere.
