Steven Schmaling, age 40, of Mt. Carroll died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, Illinois. Cremation will take place and no services are planned.
Steven was born June 2, 1971 in Savanna, the son of Leland and Mary (McCombie) Schmaling. He is a graduate of the Mt. Carroll High School with the Class of 1989. He attended Highland Community College, Freeport. On July 6, 2011, Steven married Diane Speaker. He enjoyed riding ATVs with his son, Devin; hunting and listening to music.
Steven will be dearly missed by his wife, Diane of Mt. Carroll; his son, Devin of Mt. Carroll; his mother, Mary (Donald) Robinson of Freeport; his sister, Melissa Coverdill of Argo Fay; two half-sisters; and two half-brothers. Steven is preceded in death by his father, Leland.
