Steven Michael Kelley, age 64, of Thomson, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at his home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 3, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna. Burial will take place in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Savanna. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, with a Rosary Service at 3:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Thomson Ambulance Association and the New Spirit Band.
Steve was born on April 18, 1952 in Savanna, Illinois, the son of James and Mary (Orto) Kelley. He attended Savanna High School and graduated with the Class of 1970. He later graduated from Illinois State University in 1974. Steve married Patricia Cottral on June 18, 1977 in Savanna.
Steve worked for the State Bank of Pearl City for over 16 years, and he was also the CEO of Savanna State Bank for 23 years, until his retirement in 2013. He was a member of the New Spirit Band, the Savanna Chamber of Commerce, Savanna Rotary Club, Lyons Club and the Knights of Columbus. He was also an Eagle Scout, Past President of the Carroll County Bankers Association, and an official for the Illinois Association for Basketball and Baseball. Steve loved staying active. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and played 22 years for Manny’s softball team.
Steve will be dearly missed by his wife of 39 years, Patricia; one son, James “David” (Stephanie) Kelley of McHenry, Illinois; two daughters, Megan (Jason) Hille of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Bethany (Scott) Sarazin of Alburnett, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jacob, Jenna and Isla; his mother, Mary Kelley of Savanna; one brother, David (Mary Jo) Kelley of Savanna; one sister, Joan (Steve) Sisler of Savanna, and many nieces and nephews. Steve is preceded in death by his father, James.
