Shari J. Murphy, age 54 of Lanark, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the University of Madison Hospital and Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Burial will take place in Lanark Cemetery, Lanark. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll. A memorial fund has been established in Shari’s memory.
Shari was born on August 17, 1961, the daughter of Vernon D. and Mary Alice (VanderVinne) Newendyke in Morrison, Illinois. She attended Lanark High School and graduated with the Class of 1979. After high school, Shari continued her education attending the Lutheran School of Nursing in Moline, Illinois, she received her Bachelor’s Degree from Lewis University in Chicago, Illinois and was currently working on her Master’s Degree. She worked for Swedish American Hospital in Rockford and most recently worked for the Freeport Health Network as a Critical Care Nurse. On December 4, 1982, Shari married the love of her life Brian Murphy in Rock Island, Illinois.
Shari was a member of many Nursing Associations. She enjoyed singing, playing piano, reading and raising goats and chickens on the hobby farm. Shari’s biggest joy in her life was raising her children and spending time with her family. Most of all, Shari treasured being able to spoil and play with her grandchildren.
Shari is lovingly remembered by her husband, Brian; two sons, Paul Murphy of Lanark, Eric Murphy of Lanark; daughter Amanda Murphy of Lanark; three grandchildren, Chloe Murphy, Isaac Murphy, Eli Ruter; two brothers, Richard (Lois) Newendyke of Sterling, Illinois, Russell (Penny) Newendyke of Milledgeville, Illinois; two sisters, Darla (Larry) Hubbard of Lanark, Lorna Truckenmiller of Shannon, Illinois and her parents, Vernon and Mary Alice Newendyke of Lanark. Shari is preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dean Truckenmiller.
