Sara Ann Schoenhaar, age 38, of Hanover, Illinois died from complications of Scleroderma on Sunday, December 23, 2018 surrounded by family and friends at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 28, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church, Elizabeth. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church, Elizabeth. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. A memorial fund has been established in Sara’s memory.
Sara was born on March 19, 1980, the daughter of Daniel and Sheila (Wohlford) Sadler in Galena, Illinois. She attended River Ridge High School and graduated with the Class of 1998. She later attended cosmetology school at Capri College in Dubuque. She married Jeffrey Schoenhaar on September 21, 2002 in the First United Methodist Church, Elizabeth.
After graduation, Sara worked as a hair stylist and later as a receptionist for local salons. She also worked as a receptionist in the emergency room at Midwest Medical Center in Galena until 2016. Sara was diagnosed with Scleroderma at the age of 13, but she didn’t let it slow her down. She always kept a positive attitude and lived life to its fullest every day. Sara was always happy and joking around with her family and friends. Sara’s favorite season of the year was fall, she loved watching her boys play football. Sara loved her family, especially her boys more than anything. She was an amazing woman and was strong until the very end.
Sara will be dearly missed by her husband, Jeff of Hanover, two sons, Jarrett and Keagan; her maternal grandma, Edith Wohlford of Elizabeth; her parents, Dan (Sheila) Sadler of Elizabeth; three siblings, Scott (Kathy) Sadler of Winona, Minnesota, Lori (Joe) Sledzik of Round Lake, Illinois, and Karie Wilcox of Richmond Hill, Georgia; her father and mother in-law, Carl (Marianne) Schoenhaar of Hanover; and two sisters-in-law, Kristy Wolter and Karen Andersen of Hanover; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Wilfred and Genevieve Sadler; her maternal grandfather, Delbert Wohlford; and one uncle, Randy Wohlford.
