Sara “Jayne” Price, age 84, of Savanna, Illinois, died Saturday, December 19, 2009, at the Alverno Care Center, Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. After cremation, private burial of ashes will be in the Savanna Township Cemetery at a later date. A memorial fund has been established in Sara’s memory.
Sara was born May 27, 1925 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Charles Ray and Anna Mae (Wilson) Nixdorf. She is a 1943 graduate of the Altoona Senior High School. On May 12, 1946, Sara married Jack Leonard Price in Manchester, Iowa. Jack passed away March 17, 1990 in Savanna.
Sara is the mother of two sons, Mike and Marc. She loved raising them and participated as their Den Mother of Cub Scout Pack#142. And since they both have had families, Sara has enjoyed the time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Savanna. Her faith and her family were most important to her. Sara also worked seventeen years at Eaton Corporation, Savanna and in spare time enjoyed ceramics and craft work.
Sara will be dearly missed by her two sons, Michael (Noreen) Price of Camanche, Iowa and Marc Price of Martinez, Georgia; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and many other extended family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack; an infant sister, Barbara; a brother, Darrell; and a grandson, Benjamin.
