Sandra Adamson

September 14, 1944 — July 30, 2021

Sandra Adamson of Elizabeth, IL, passed away Friday, July 30th, at her home. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Friends may share in Sandra’s life at lawjonesfuneralhome.com

Sandra was born September 14, 1944, daughter of Donald and Frances (McVey) Stebbins. She grew up on the family farm, attending a one-room schoolhouse called Silver Springs for the first five years of her schooling prior to transferring into Dakota schools. The Stebbins family then moved to Elizabeth, IL in the late 50s, where Sandra attended Elizabeth High School, from which she graduated in 1962. After graduation Sandra married Stanley Albrecht, also an Elizabeth local. Together they worked the Albrecht farm and raised two sons, Scott and Steven. Sandra and Stanley would later separate.
In 1992 Sandra married Glenn Adamson and together the couple ran the Corral restaurant, now the Welcome Inn among other various business ventures. They celebrated 24 years of marriage until Glenn’s passing in 2017.
During Sandra’s early-married life working on the farm and making it successful was her main focus. Many years later she was extremely proud to attend college at the age of 39. Sandy graduated college with a degree in Nursing. She worked as Psychology Nurse for 18 years, traveling to patients’ homes for visits. Being able to provide Psychiatric care to patients in need within their homes was extremely satisfying and rewarding to Sandra. She later retired from nursing.
Sandra was also very proud of her Native American heritage. She was a quarter Lakota on her mother’s side. Sandra and her sister, Cathy, often traveled across the Midwest to enjoy Lakota powwows. Furthermore, her love of animals and her hard-working nature helped connect her to the culture.
Sandra exhibited a very courageous spirit and would not take no for an answer. One such example would be when she as a teen tried to break the family’s new horse “Joker” by herself without her parents knowledge. The brave attempt ended with a major concussion.
Sandra will be remembered and missed by Cathy Stebbins (sister), Scott Albrecht (son), Steven Albrecht (son) and her grandchildren and all extended family members.
