Samuel Austin Lee Limond, age 18, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away far too soon on Friday, May 1, 2026, due to a tragic accident.
Sam was born December 14, 2007, in Sterling, Illinois, the loving son of Nancy Myers Luna and Wesley Limond. He spent his early years in Rock Falls, Mount Morris, and Sterling before moving to Miles in 2022 and Clinton in 2024. A proud member of Easton Valley High School’s Class of 2026, Sam will be honored with a reserved seat at graduation, recognizing the bright future his family and friends knew he deserved.
Sam was everybody’s friend. He had a big heart, a ready laugh, and a way of bringing light into a room without even trying. He never met a stranger and had a gift for making others feel welcome. Rarely serious for long, Sam was always ready with a joke, a smile, or a kind word that could lift someone’s day. He cared naturally for others, was willing to lend a hand, and was never afraid of hard work.
Music and theater were central parts of Sam’s life. He loved classic country music and enjoyed singing, playing, and performing. Shortly after joining choir, he earned national choral recognition. Sam recently starred as the lead in his school’s production of Shrek, and he was learning piano and guitar. Whether singing on stage, around friends, or just being himself, Sam shared his joy freely.
Sam had dreams of becoming a welder and raising a family one day. He had recently started working at Pizza Hut in DeWitt and had previously worked with an after-school program, where his kindness and ability to connect with young people were easy to see. He loved cooking and grilling, especially when the food had some heat. He also enjoyed bonfires with friends, video games, cowboy boots and suspenders, and vintage cars and trucks. Some of his happiest moments were spent gathered around a bonfire, laughing, talking, and enjoying the people he loved.
Sam shared a special bond with his PopPop, whom he looked up to, and he held a special place in his heart for his great-grandmother Nancy Bushong, who lived close by and cared for him when he was younger.
Sam is survived by his mother, NancyLee Luna and her husband, Devin, of Clinton, Iowa; his father, Wesley Limond and his wife Shambreanna of Pleasant View, Utah; his siblings, KaliAnna Salem Myers, Samantha Limond, and Brody Cheever; his stepsiblings, Brayden, Jaiden and Ayla Absher; his maternal great-grandmother Judy Deets and maternal grandfather, Byron Myers; his paternal grandfather, Stephen Limond and his wife, Linda. He is also survived by many loving family members, friends, classmates, teachers, and a community who will carry his memory forward.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Samuella Myers, his maternal great-grandmother, Nancy Bushong and his uncle, Mike Feldthouse.
A celebration of Samuel‘s life will be held 2 to 7 PM Saturday, May 9 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Preston Iowa. A prayer service will be held at 7 PM.
