RuthAnn Remrey passed away Monday, October 13, 2025 at Allure Nursing Home, Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, October 17 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. The funeral service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, October 18 at the Evangelical First Lutheran Church, Mt. Carroll, with burial to follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
RuthAnn was a dedicated farm wife who embodied hard work, organization, and community spirit. Born on February 8, 1942, in Woodland Township, the daughter of Howard and Helen (Engles) Palmer, she grew up on a family farm, learning the value of diligence from an early age. She attended Pleasant Valley Country School and the Mt. Carroll High School with the Class of 1960.
A faithful member of First Lutheran Church, RuthAnn was always willing to help with church meals and activities. She was known for her passion for gardening, cooking, canning her famous salsa and applesauce, and raising sweet corn where she enjoyed socializing with loyal customers. She lived to work outside and could often be found doing her favorite thing, mowing the yard.
RuthAnn's life was defined by her partnership with her husband Boyd. They married December 12, 1964. Together, they worked the land, raised livestock, and built a loving family. Her signature phrase, "It's a great life if you don't weaken," reflected her resilient spirit.
RuthAnn is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Boyd; her son Bryan (Angie) of Lanark; her daughter Brenda (Steven) Getz of Savanna; five grandchildren: Aaron Remrey, Andrew (Kendra) Remrey, Jacob (Katie) Getz, John (Marie) Getz and Lizzy Remrey; and eight great-grandchildren, Brielle, Ashton, Landon, Cruz, Maci, Brooklynn, Henry, and Olivia.
She was preceded in death by her son, Howard, both parents, and her brother Allan Palmer.
RuthAnn's legacy is one of unwavering commitment to her family, farm, and community.
