Ruth V. Stricker, age 99, of Lena, Illinois, died Wednesday, January 07, 2009, at the Lena Living Center, Lena, Illinois. A private family graveside service will be held Saturday, January 10, 2008, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Mt. Carroll, Illinois.
Ruth was born December 5, 1909, in Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of John William and Hazel Mae (Poffenberger) Zink. She was united in marriage to George Stricker on August 22, 1931, in Savanna, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1985. The couple resided in the Mt. Carroll and Savanna area most of their lives. Ruth was a homemaker who enjoyed reading and crocheting.
Ruth is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Beverly (Bill) Kingery of Lena, Illinois; one half – brother, Rodney (Joan) Hayden of California; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George Stricker; one brother, Kenneth Zink; and one sister, Demerise Bonjor.
