Ruth C. Specht, age 90, of Hixton, WI formerly of Preston, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at her home. A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 25, 2006 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Spragueville, Iowa. Burial will be in the Spragueville Cemetery, Spragueville, Iowa. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 24 at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa. Ruth was born on September 5, 1916, in Ames, Iowa the daughter of George and Arminda (Hageman) Beck. She married Leon L. Specht on February 17, 1940 in Davenport, Iowa. Ruth graduated from Preston High School in 1935 and Jane Lamb School of Nursing, Clinton, Iowa in 1939.
Ruth worked at Mercy and Jane Lamb Hospitals in Clinton, Iowa as a Private Duty Nurse; she also worked as the Head Nurse at Maquoketa Care Center for twelve years. Ruth enjoyed playing bingo, collecting cookbooks, fishing and traveling. Most of all Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Leon; two sons, Lowell (Virginia) Specht of Springhill, Florida, Noel Specht of Bonney Lake, Washington, five daughters, Carmin (John) Blake of Maquoketa, Iowa, Joene Michel of Preston, Iowa, Twyla (Kenneth) Dinger of Center Point, Iowa, Lwyla (David) Schneider of Black River Falls, Wisconsin, and Noella Soenksen of Muscatine, Iowa; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren; three brothers George"Shorty" (Dorothy) Beck of Spragueville, Iowa, Ambrose (Caryl) Beck of Goose Lake, Iowa, and Robert (Lenora) Beck of Sabula, Iowa; two sisters Virginia Bees of Sun City West, Arizona, and Shirley (Allen) Felderman of Spragueville, Iowa.
Ruth is preceded in death by her brother Chelsea Beck, sister Joyce McCartney, grandson Kevin Michel; son-in-law Floyd Michel; and her parents.
