Ruth Marie Rogers, 88, of Lombard, Illinois, formerly of Chadwick, Illinois, died Sunday, October 2, 2005 at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital, Dixon, Illinois. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at the Evangelical Free Church, Chadwick. Pastor Josh Jensen will officiate. Burial will be in the Chadwick Cemetery. A visitation will be held 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Chadwick. Memorials may be given to the family in Ruth’s memory. Ruth was born January 11, 1917 in Lanark, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence and Iva Grove. She attended Lanark Public School. Ruth married Verel Rogers on October 3, 1936 in Lanark. Verel passed away February 10, 2003. Ruth helped Verel manage their fuel oil business along with taking care of their children. Verel and Ruth enjoyed traveling and seeing new places; spending the majority of winters in Bradenton, Florida. They were members of “The Grange” social organization for a number of years. Ruth enjoyed making and collecting all types of dolls, and crocheting.
Ruth was a member of the Evangelical Free Church, Chadwick’s Women’s Club, American Legion Auxiliary in Chadwick, Shepard’s Shrine Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and Zenobia Temple Daughters of the Nile in Berwyn, Illinois.
Ruth will be deeply missed by her four children, Rogene Rogers of Lombard, IL; Roger (Connie) Rogers of Largo, FL; Richard (Helen) Rogers of Lanark, IL; and Rita Anderson of Mt. Carroll, IL; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Verel; parents; two brothers, Raymond and Robert Grove; and a sister, Zella McIlhattin.
