Ruth "Darlene" (Ritchie) Ermel

Ruth “Darlene” (Ritchie) Ermel, age 92, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away Saturday August 17, 2019 at Waverly Place in Stockton, IL. A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday August 21, 2019, at 1:30p.m. at Savanna Township Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to share in Ruth’s life at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com .
Ruth was born March 17, 1927, in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of Earl and Cora (Diehl) Ritchie. In 1950, Ruth married Joseph Stompanato, who passed away in 1966. She then married Henry Ermel on September 20, 1972.
Ruth began her working life at Ballas Tavern and Pizza, and later worked for a truck stop and grocery store in Idaho. Although these occupations were nice, her most rewarding venture may have been working for a beach front motel for 16 years. She was a member of the Women of the Moose. In her spare time, Ruth loved to read and to solve crossword puzzles.
Ruth will be dearly missed by her husband Henry; her sister, Eunice Bowers of Savanna, Illinois; sister-in-law, Sally Ritchie of Savanna, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents Earl and Cora, first husband Joseph, and brothers Raymond, Bernard, and Boyd.
